Color Me Shop is an e-commerce platform used by a total of more than 220,000 shops. It offers a large number of templates designed to drive purchases, allowing even e-commerce beginners to launch an online shop simply by choosing a template.
All the minimum functions necessary for running an e-commerce business come standard, and the sales commission is ¥0 on every plan. It is operated by GMO Pepabo, Inc., a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market, giving it a stable operational foundation.
Benefits of Using Color Me Shop
Using Color Me Shop offers a variety of benefits, including the following.
- No sales commission
- Easy shop setup with design templates
- Robust support for building and running your shop
- Access to more than 350 features
- A wide range of selling methods to choose from
- Can be started for free
Let's go through each of these in detail.
No Sales Commission
With other platforms, there are cases where about 3% of sales is charged as a sales commission. With Color Me Shop, no sales commission is charged under any pricing plan, making it easier to turn a profit.
Even as your business grows and you change pricing plans, no sales commission is charged, making it a service that's easy to use over the long term.
Easy Shop Setup with Design Templates

With Color Me Shop, you can easily set up an online shop by using design templates. Every template is designed with the path to purchase in mind, so you can start by publishing it as-is and then make adjustments as you run your shop.
It also supports HTML and CSS editing, so if you have the knowledge, you can customize it down to the smallest detail.

Another appeal of Color Me Shop is the extensive support you can receive.
- Color Me AI Chat
- Email and phone support
- EC advisor
- Production and setup outsourcing service
Color Me AI Chat is available 24 hours a day. With the Free plan, you can use AI chat and email support; with the Regular and Large plans, you can use email support with replies from a representative within 1–2 business days; and with the Premium plan, phone support and assistance from a dedicated EC advisor are added.
If it's difficult to handle building and setting up your online shop in-house, outsourcing services for design production and initial setup are also available.
With Color Me Shop, even e-commerce beginners can start running a shop with peace of mind.
Access to More Than 350 Features

Color Me Shop offers more than 350 features covering everything from building and running your online shop to attracting customers.
For example, you can use features that help improve purchase rates and repeat-customer rates, such as coupons, points, product reviews, email newsletters, and follow-up emails. It also supports integration with external services and feature expansion through apps, so you can add the features you need as your shop grows.
In April 2026, the "Color Me Shop AI Agent," which lets you ask questions in a chat within the admin panel while referencing order, product, and customer information, was released early for the Premium plan. In this way, the addition of AI-powered features is also progressing.
A Wide Range of Selling Methods to Choose From
Color Me Shop lets you choose from a wide range of selling methods, including the following.
- Media EC (content-driven e-commerce)
- Digital content sales
- Pre-orders
- Color Me Anywhere
- Members-only sales, and more
With Color Me Shop, you can use the "Color Me WP Option" to create owned media within the same domain as your shop (free for the Regular plan and above; ¥5,500 per month for the Free plan). If you can attract customers through owned media, you can expect an increase in customers using your shop.
Since you can take pre-orders for new products before launch or for popular items, it also becomes easier to control order and production volumes.
You can also use the "Color Me Anywhere" feature to encourage product purchases outside of your shop, such as on external blogs or websites.
Can Be Started for Free
Anyone can start using Color Me Shop for free.
The standard plans come in three types—Regular, Large, and Premium—but for those hesitant to start running a shop due to cost concerns, a Free plan with no setup fee or monthly fee whatsoever is also available.
Even the Free plan includes the basic features necessary for running a shop, so you can start an online shop without paying a monthly fee. However, the payment processing fee is higher than on paid plans (6.6% + ¥30 or more), and a 3D Secure subscription for ¥1,100 per month is also required to use credit card payments. Officially, it is presented as a plan suited to shops with monthly sales of ¥100,000 or less.
Disadvantages of Color Me Shop
While Color Me Shop has many advantages, there are also disadvantages worth knowing before you adopt it.
Harder to Attract Customers Compared to Marketplace-Type Platforms
Marketplace-type e-commerce sites have a large number of users, and because the marketplace itself runs large-scale sales and campaigns, you can expect a certain amount of traffic just by opening a shop there.
With a self-operated e-commerce site like Color Me Shop, however, if you don't attract customers yourself through social media, advertising, SEO, and the like, it's difficult to get people to notice your shop exists.
Standard Features Don't Support Multilingual Display for the Entire Shop
Color Me Shop's standard features do not provide a way to display the shop itself in multiple languages. For this reason, if you want to build an e-commerce site with multilingual product pages, category pages, and so on for overseas customers, considering an e-commerce platform that more easily supports multilingual sales, such as Shopify, is also an option.
On the other hand, it does support selling overseas itself. By using the "overseas sales proxy" feature, which has been offered for free on all plans since July 2025, you can set up a path to a purchase form for overseas customers that supports 19 languages, and start selling to overseas customers without any usage fees or sales commission.
So if you want to easily accept orders from overseas, Color Me Shop can handle that, but if you want to fully localize your entire shop into multiple languages and seriously expand into cross-border e-commerce, it's a good idea to consider your choice of e-commerce platform as well.

Detailed Design Requires Specialized Knowledge of HTML and CSS
With Color Me Shop, you can easily build a shop just by selecting a template. However, if you leave a template as-is, it tends to look similar to other shops.
Creating a shop unified around your brand's identity or brimming with originality requires specialized knowledge and skills in HTML, CSS, and similar technologies. If you don't have these skills, consider commissioning a production company.
Limited Options for App and External Service Integrations
Color Me Shop lets you add features through its App Store, but compared with platforms originating overseas, such as Shopify, the options for app and external service integrations are limited. For example, the Amazon integration app ended service on September 30, 2026, so if you want to integrate with Amazon, you'll need to use an external service such as Next Engine.
If you're planning to add features not included in the standard functionality, check beforehand whether the apps or integration services you need are available.

The Premium plan lets you choose a contract term of 3, 6, or 12 months, and costs ¥35,640 per month with a 12-month contract. In addition to a dedicated EC advisor, you can also use features such as pre-order sales and a membership rank feature.

Key Case Studies of Color Me Shop
Below, we introduce case studies of Color Me Shop adoption. Let's look at what changes occurred at the shops that adopted it.
Yomenya Goemon Store: Reduced Work Time and Tripled Sales

Yomenya Goemon Store originally sold its products through "Anshindo," a curated food select shop. However, because the order and fulfillment flow differed by product, the burden on staff grew heavier as the number of orders increased. Feeling this was an issue, the company decided to launch a dedicated online shop for Yomenya Goemon.
At that time, they chose to open their shop with Color Me Shop because of its flexibility for customization, rich feature set, and low cost.
By automating order and fulfillment management, staff work time was reduced to one-third of what it previously was. Sales have also tripled over the four years from 2017 to 2021.
Yogurt Specialty Store Morning: Sales Up 140% Year-on-Year by Meeting Gift Demand

Yogurt specialty store Morning has been using Color Me Shop, which offers a rich set of features, since it first opened its online shop in 2010.
They later renewed their site with different designs for PC and mobile, taking ease of use into consideration. By newly introducing Amazon Pay and meeting demand for gifts and mail-order purchases, they achieved sales at 140% and CVR at 160% year-on-year.
Kagoshima Gururi: Growing Traffic with Reading Content

Kagoshima Gururi is an e-commerce site specializing in direct-from-producer goods from Kagoshima.
The deciding factors for adopting Color Me Shop and opening their shop were its ease of use, rich feature set, and reasonable pricing. They then used the Color Me WP Option to launch a "Yomimono" (reading content) page, and have been publishing articles themed around Kagoshima's food and tourism.
Although the content wasn't read much at first, traffic has grown as they've continued to experiment and refine their approach. Going forward, they aim to turn articles that convey the appeal of producers and the region into purchases and repeat business.
Who Should Consider Color Me Shop
Color Me Shop is recommended for the following types of people and companies.
- People and companies who want robust support for shop operations
- People and companies who want to start an online shop on a small scale while keeping costs down
Let's look at each of these in detail.
People and Companies Who Want Robust Support for Shop Operations
Color Me Shop is well suited for people and companies who feel uncertain about building and running an e-commerce site and want to operate it while receiving support.
In addition to AI chat available 24 hours a day, you can use email and phone support depending on your contract plan. With the Premium plan, you can also receive proposals from a dedicated EC advisor for solving your shop's challenges and growing your business.
People and Companies Who Want to Start an Online Shop on a Small Scale While Keeping Costs Down
With the Free plan, you can open an online shop with ¥0 in setup fees and ¥0 in monthly fees. Since the sales commission is ¥0 on every plan, even if you switch to a paid plan after your sales grow, no sales commission based on your sales amount will be charged.
However, additional costs will arise depending on payment processing fees and the apps or options you use. Compare the total cost, including payment processing fees and the features you need, not just the monthly fee.
Color Me Shop: Summary
Color Me Shop is an e-commerce site-building service that you can use according to your business scale, ranging from a Free plan with ¥0 setup fee and ¥0 monthly fee to a Premium plan that comes with a dedicated EC advisor.
In addition to more than 350 features, it also offers support via AI chat, WordPress integration, overseas sales, and AI-powered shop management and analytics features.
On the other hand, you need to attract customers yourself, and there are limits to how much you can localize the entire shop into multiple languages or expand its features through apps. If you want to start while keeping costs down, or if you're a person or company that wants to operate while receiving support, it's a good idea to first try out the Free plan to get a feel for how it works.
