We've Released a Weight Limit Feature (Weight Rule) | RuffRuff Order Limits

We've released a new feature, "Weight Limit," that lets you restrict orders based on the weight of products in the cart.

This solves challenges faced by store operators dealing with weight-related constraints, such as carrier weight limits, international shipping conditions, and gift box capacity. It enables limits that flexibly adapt to product combinations, something that traditional quantity limits could not handle.

Challenges This Solves

Want Flexible Quantity Limits

Challenge: You want to limit purchases to "up to 2 dozen per customer" for a product sold both individually and by the dozen, but quantity alone can't manage this.

Solution: Set a weight limit of up to 240g for individual units (10g) and dozen packs (120g), and any combination — "24 individual units," "2 dozen packs," "12 individual units + 1 dozen pack," etc. — will be automatically limited.

Want to Accommodate Shipping Method Constraints

Challenge: Shipping methods such as mail service or Click Post have their own weight limits, resulting in orders that exceed them.

Solution: By limiting the total weight in the cart, you only accept orders within the shippable range. This proactively prevents shipping issues and additional fees.

Want to Comply with International Shipping Weight Conditions

Challenge: Different shipping services have different weight limits, and customers sometimes mistakenly order combinations that can't be shipped.

Solution: Set rules according to the weight limits of each shipping service (e.g., small packets up to 2kg max, EMS up to 30kg max). This prevents customer purchase errors and enables smooth shipping.

Want to Properly Manage Products Sold by Weight

Challenge: You want to manage the purchase quantity of products sold by weight, such as coffee beans or nuts, which have multiple weight variants (100g, 250g, 500g, 1kg).

Solution: By setting a limit of "up to 3kg total," customers can freely combine options — such as "3 bags of 1kg" or "6 bags of 500g" — while staying within the limit.

Want to Set Limits Based on Gift Box Capacity

Challenge: For gift sets, you want customers to select products that fit the box size, but this can't be managed by quantity alone.

Solution: Set weight limits by box size (S size 500g, M size 1kg). Customers can freely choose products within what fits the box, preventing overpacking.

Want to Prevent Excessive Purchases of Sample Products

Challenge: Small trial-size products get bought up in bulk by a small number of customers.

Solution: Limit the total weight of sample products while excluding regular products from the calculation. This allows samples to reach more customers.

  • Cart: Apply the limit to the total weight in the cart

Support for Products with Different Weight Units

You can choose the behavior for cases where products use different weight units.

  • Convert and include in the calculation: Automatically converts to the specified weight unit and includes it in the limit calculation
  • Exclude from the calculation: Treats it as excluded from the weight limit calculation

Dynamically Display Weight Values

You can use variables in product messages and alert messages to display weight information in real time.

  • {{minWeight}}- Displays the configured minimum weight
