You can now set purchase quantity limits by customer group|RuffRuff Order Limits

Tsun Inc.

We have added "Quantity rules by customer group" to RuffRuff Order Limits. In addition to applying the same quantity limits to all customers, you can now use a single rule to set different limits for the same product, such as up to 1 item for guests, 2 for members, and 3 for VIPs.

Key features

  • Group customers by customer tags or customer metafield values. You can also set separate limits for guests and members who do not match any of the groups you add.
  • Choose "No limit", "Limit", or "Cannot purchase" for each group. With "Limit", you can set a minimum quantity, maximum quantity, and increment (quantities must be multiples of the specified number), and apply these limits per variant, per product, or across the cart.
  • Display the customer's group name and quantity limits in messages on product pages and at checkout. Group names and messages also support translation.

Things to note when using this feature

  • Grouping by customer tags or customer metafields applies only to logged-in customers. Customers who are not logged in are treated as guests, even if they enter their email address at checkout.
  • If a customer matches multiple groups, the limits of the first matching group from the top apply. Drag the groups you add to change their priority.
  • Each rule uses one condition type: "Customer tags" or "Customer metafield". You can add up to 10 groups in addition to the default guest and member groups, with up to 5 condition values per group.
  • Supported customer metafield types are single-line text, integer, and boolean. Values must exactly match the values specified in the rule.
  • This feature limits quantities within a single order. To limit total quantities purchased across multiple orders, use "Cumulative quantity rules".
  • Existing quantity rules and product-specific limits are not automatically replaced. If other rules apply to the same product, those limits also apply.

To use this feature, create and enable a new rule.

  1. In the app admin, open "Quantity limits", then select "Manage" under "Quantity rules by customer group".
  2. Select "Create rule", configure "Eligible items", "Applicability", and the limits for each group, and save the rule.
  3. Select "Enable". To display messages on product pages, also enable the app embed in your theme.

This feature is available on the Full plan. It is not available on the free or Light plan. The update took effect on September 18, 2026.
