We’ve fixed a bug in the “Automatically recover missed gift distribution” feature, where for campaigns that use a customer’s total order count or total amount spent as a condition, the values used for evaluation didn’t match the values used during checkout on the storefront.
Recovery reads a customer’s total order count and total amount spent after the order has been created, while the storefront evaluates these values before the order is finalized. Because of this gap, Recovery’s evaluation already included the current order itself. For example, a first-time customer who shouldn’t have met a “total order count of 1 or more” condition could be incorrectly judged as meeting it, causing a gift to be added automatically when it shouldn’t have been. There was also a bug where campaigns using an “equal to” or “not equal to” total order count condition would either never or always match, due to a mismatch in the internal value type.
What changed
- Total order count and total amount spent evaluation: Recovery now subtracts the current order itself from the values it reads, so it evaluates against the same “pre-order” values as the storefront
- “Equal to” / “not equal to” conditions: Campaigns using a total order count condition now evaluate correctly
This fix is a change to internal evaluation logic only, and no action is required from store owners. If you have any questions about an order where a gift may have been added incorrectly in the past, please contact our support team.
